SUMMARY:Crippled Symmetries – Yiu-Hsiu Museum of Art
DESCRIPTION:Yiu-Hsiu Museum of Art\, Taiwan \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCrippled Symmetries – Yiu-Hsiu Museum of Art\n\n\n\nA two-day special performance transforms the museum into a vast\, walk-through stage\, while installations and video works can be experienced over two weeks\, from 1 to 13 September. \n\n\n\nAcross the international Crippled Symmetries project\, each edition responds to its own cultural and local context. In Peru\, Indigenous traditions have provided a starting point for exploring ritual\, memory and sound; in Korea\, shamanic practices have informed new approaches to ceremony and cycles. In Taiwan\, the focus shifts to the particular relationship between the museum\, its architecture and the surrounding mountain environment. The Taiwan edition brings together sound\, video\, live performance and installation\, inviting audiences to move through the museum and experience its spaces\, sounds and surroundings from new perspectives. \n\n\n\nComposersLin Fang-Yi\, Lin Kuei-Ju\, Ana Maria Rodriguez \n\n\n\nArtistsWu Tsan-Cheng\, Chang Chun-Tzu \n\n\n\nPerformersEnsemble KNM Berlin (video works)\, CUBE BAND\, Mu-Sound Choir\, Dason Chamber EnsembleChou Hsin (violin)\, Grace (cello)\, Chiu Yu-Ju (violin / voice)\, Tai Tzu-Jen (viola)\, Chang Yen-Lun (ruan)\, Huang Ya-Nong (suona / wind instruments)\, Liu Ying-Jung (shakuhachi)\, Lin Hsiao-Feng (flute)\, Lin Yi-Hsien (flute)\, Tsai Pei-Lun (clarinet)\, Lai Yu-Chun (clarinet)\, and Su Yun-Han (pipa) \n\n\n\nSpatial and Pathway DesignWu Tzu-Ching \n\n\n\nCuratorLin Fang-Yi \n\n\n\nCo-CuratorThomas Bruns \n\n\n\nProject CoordinatorLai Chien-Fu \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCrippled Symmetries is a project by Ensemble KNM Berlin in cooperation with Busan International Contemporary Music Festival\, the Department of Musicology at Freie Universität Berlin\, Frequenz_Festival Kiel\, Goethe-Institut Peru\, Greek National Opera Alternative Stage\, Kultur Büro Elisabeth\, MaerzMusik / Berliner Festspiele and Studio Acht Taipei.Funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
