NOIS//E is an interdisciplinary festival and symposium in Milan organized by the NOIS//E Association. The 2026 edition, titled »Practices of Presence in the Post-Generative Age«, focuses on presence, body, listening, gesture, matter, space, memory, environment, and the critical use of technology.

In Nature Alone Are Forms – COSIMA (2021)

This video is part of »In Nature Alone Are Forms«, a larger work for six musicians, nineteen gongs, video and electronics. The work consists of several modules, including the video solo COSIMA. The sound consists exclusively of different qualities of noise, evoking both the cycles of nature, such as the ocean, and the continuous soundscape of the city. The video takes its name from cellist Cosima Gerhardt, who moves like a Tai Chi practitioner, focused on her slow movements regardless of what happens around her. As in Tai Chi, the choreography unfolds through forms that flow smoothly into one another, each composed of images marking the beginning and end of a movement. The video explores how we are simultaneously part of nature’s cycles and inescapably immersed in an urban environment.
